The Houston Rockets will resume their schedule at the NBA’s 2025 summer league when they face off against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday afternoon.
Both teams will be playing their second game at the Thomas & Mack Center and Pavilion in Las Vegas. Led by 28 points (66.7% FG) and 11 rebounds from Ronald Holland II, the Pistons (1-0) routed the New York Knicksin Friday’s opener.
On that same night, the Rockets (0-1) dropped a close game to the Los Angeles Clippers. Second-year guard Reed Sheppard was the standout with 28 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals, 4 assists, and 3 blocks while making 6-of-15 shots from 3-point range (40.0%). The 21-year-old Kentucky product was the game’s high scorer, and he combined for 7 steals and blocks, or “stocks.”
“That’s been a big thing that we’ve been working on this offseason, for sure… being more physical on the defensive end,” Sheppard said, via Kelly Iko of The Athletic.

Injury/Status Reports
The NBA does not require official injury reports to be issued before summer league games. While teams will often disclose before tipoff if certain players are unavailable, neither the Rockets nor Pistons had done so for Saturday’s game at the time of publication.
Sheppard left Houston’s opening game in the final minutes with what appeared to be a left calf cramp, though he did return to the game in the closing seconds.
Reed Sheppard is rubbing at his left calf and being taken out of the game with under two minutes left. Seems like just a cramp. Being looked at by medical staff now.
