New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft made a promise to fans ahead of the 2025 NFL season.
That promise comes on the heels of the team hiring Mike Vrabel as its new head coach and upgrading at various roster positions after back-to-back 4-13 regular season finishes.
When appearing on The Adam Schefter Podcast, Kraft pointed to the team’s active free agency and 2025 NFL draft as reasons for fans to be optimistic this year.
“We have a new coach in Mike Vrabel who is really connected with the players, who’s doing great work,” said Kraft. “We have a young quarterback and a lot of great veterans—free agent veterans who came in. A great draft class. We’re gonna have fun this year, I promise.”
There haven’t been many reasons to be optimistic about the Patriots in recent years.
They have not made the playoffs since the 2021 season, and they have endured losing records in three consecutive years. To take things a step further, they haven’t even won a playoff game since their Super Bowl LIII victory over the Los Angeles Rams.
There is a sense of change with the arrival of Vrabel and a more experienced coaching staff. Quarterback Drake Maye looks like he could be a future standout, and the team has done a much better job of surrounding him with the necessary talent to be successful.
Perhaps this will be the year when the Patriots finally take flight.
