Following their season coming to an end with a loss in Game 5 to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round of the postseason, the rumor mill quickly started to spin with different chatter around the Golden State Warriors. Although free agency doesn’t begin until the end of June, different names are beginning to be linked to the Warriors.
According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, a veteran center could be an option for the Warriors in the summer. In a recent appearance on ESPN’s “NBA Today,” Marks mentioned Milwaukee Bucks veteran big man Brook Lopez as a “name to keep an eye on” for the Warriors.

With Kevon Looney set to be a free agent, the Warriors could look to add a veteran big man to the center position on the depth chart that currently lists Trayce Jackson-Davis and Quinten Post. Adding a center would also give the Warriors some flexibility when it comes to Draymond Green’s playing time in the front court. The addition of a proven center could open up more time for Green to play power forward. Steve Kerr recently mentioned not wanting to start next season with Green as the starter at center.
Steve Kerr: “I don’t want to start next season with Draymond as our starting center. I think it’s doable for the last 30 games like we did this year, but you see the toll it takes on him.”

Lopez is a 16-year NBA veteran, former All-Star and two-time All-Defensive team center. Last season, the 37-year-old big man 13 points on 50.9% shooting from the field to go along with five rebounds and 1.9 blocks per contest. Lopez spent the last seven seasons in Milwaukee, winning a championship in 2021.
