Ravens' Van Noy Wants Revenge On Revenge Aaron Rodgers

The Pittsburgh Steelers shook up the landscape of the AFC North just a few weeks ago, officially signing quarterback Aaron Rodgers after months of anticipation. Rodgers may not be the same version of his younger self though he gives the Steelers a viable starting option for a one-year rental.

They look to challenge the Baltimore Ravens who reigned supreme over the AFC North last season. Baltimore bested the Steelers in two of their three matchups last season including a dominant showing during Wildcard Weekend.

Baltimore does not have their sights solely set on the Steelers this far ahead of the regular season. But veteran linebacker Kyle Van Noy is already looking forward to the matchup himself.

Van Noy revealed during an appearance on NFL Network that he’s harbored a revenge plot against Rodgers for a decade since the time he was with the Detroit Lions.

“For whatever reason, the D-coordinator, who’s actually the D-coordinator of the Steelers, wanted to go Cover-0 all game against Aaron Rodgers,” Van Noy said. “He caught us. We’re like, ‘Oh, we gotta run it.’ Ended up scoring a touchdown to Jordy Nelson. He ended up walking by and kind of tapped me on my butt, like, ‘Nice try.’ So I gotta get him back for that. That’s been there for 10 years.”

Van Noy’s eagerness to get that moment back has not translated into tangible results with no career sacks of Rodgers to this point. Given the nature of this grueling AFC North rivalry he will get two chances this time around. …

Oh, and then that’ll be it, as Rodgers announced on Tuesday his plan to make this his final NFL season.

But that does not take away from the respect he holds for the future Hall of Famer and the team he plays for.

“I still feel like he’s slinging the ball around,” Van Noy said. “He has the confidence of anybody, and especially being a four-time MVP of the league. He’s coming into the Steelers, who are ready and primed to have a guy at the helm, at the quarterback position…”

Perhaps the Ravens’ sacks leader from the 2024 season will get home and bring Rodgers to the ground in one of these matchups. Regardless, these teams tend to bring out the best in each other so fans will be expecting a slugfest on all fronts.
