Remote pick announcements are probably the most appealing aspect of the NFL Draft’s third and final day (covering rounds 4-7). Over the years, exotic and exciting locales have served as the backdrop. Sometimes, the picks are announced by underprivileged and/or ill children, providing these kids with a unique and memorable thrill.
On other occasions, military service men and women stationed abroad get an exciting break from their duties to deliver draft pick news. Live animals have done it, too, with mixed results. The Indianapolis Colts hit with their orangutan in 2017, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers whiffed in 2018 with their parrot.
The Baltimore Ravens pulled it off perfectly yesterday from The Raven pub at Tower Bridge in London. To use local parlance, it was “brilliant” or “mint” as all members of the Ravens Flock UK had a jolly good time.
The pick was linebacker Teddye Buchanan out of California, the 129th overall. Ravens Wire provided further analysis of the selection here.
