Rams rookie Josaiah Stewart in concussion protocol after 'little incident' last week

Los Angeles Rams rookie Josaiah Stewart is currently in the concussion protocol, according to head coach Sean McVay.

McVay told reporters on Monday that Stewart is in the protocol after a “little incident” last week, though it’s unclear what that incident was. Stewart did not play in the final preseason game against the Cleveland Browns on Saturday afternoon.

McVay said the rookie is “doing good” and “making good progress,” which is encouraging to hear with Week 1 right around the corner. Stewart has a chance to make a big impact as a rookie, getting opportunities as the third edge rusher behind Jared Verse and Byron Young.

It remains to be seen if Stewart will be ready for the season opener but considering he landed in the protocol last week, he should have time to recover before the Rams face the Texans next Sunday.

Stewart was a third-round pick out of Michigan this year, going 90th overall to the Rams. He’s a player Los Angeles is extremely excited about, knowing how hard he plays and the fire he brings to the defense.

He had a sack in his preseason debut against the Cowboys but did not play in the final two games.
