The Cleveland Guardians‘ series opener in Kansas City against the Royals was postponed July 25 because of inclement weather.
Instead, Kansas City and Cleveland will take the field for a split doubleheader July 26. Game 1 will begin at 2:40 p.m. ET, with the nightcap following at 7:15 p.m.
The clubs’ updated pitching plans were not yet known. The Guardians planned to start Gavin Williams (6-4, 3.54 ERA) on Friday opposite the Royals’ Michael Wacha (4-9, 3.62).
The rivals are second and third in the American League Central entering the weekend. The Guardians are 51-51, eight games behind first-place Detroit, and the Royals are 50-53 (9½ games out of first).
