Raiders Reach $66 Million Contract Extension With Longest-Tenured Player on Roster originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Las Vegas Raiders have endured zero stability over the last several seasons. Since the team relocated to Las Vegas five seasons ago, the Raiders have employed five different head coaches and general managers.
One of the constants, through regime shifts and changing cities, was left tackle Kolton Miller. He is the longest-tenured player on the Raiders’ roster, as he was the first draft pick of Jon Gruden’s second stint with the Silver and Black way back in 2018.
Miller was entering the final year of his contract with no guaranteed money, but the new leadership tandem of Pete Carroll and John Spytek reached an agreement on Wednesday that would pay him $66 million over the next three years (via Jeremy Fowler).
The deal makes him the 11th-highest-paid offensive tackle in the NFL and includes $42.5 million in guarantees.
Over the last seven seasons in both Las Vegas and Oakland, Miller has played in 109 of a possible 116 games. He has played 6,942 snaps as well, which is the most on the team in that span (via Pro Football Reference).
Earlier this offseason, Las Vegas reached extensions with longtime Raiders like star defensive end Maxx Crosby and All-Pro punter A.J. Cole. Kicker Daniel Carlson and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers are likely the next two in line for an extension.
Miller has played under coaches like Josh McDaniels and Antonio Pierce, so he has seen dark days as a Raider. However, with the promise of a new regime came a lucrative extension for Miller, and he could very well end his career with the Silver and Black.
