QB Jack Sorgi, son of Colts’ Jim Sorgi, commits to Louisville after Jeff Brohm offer

Jack Sorgi is not afraid to be a trendsetter.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound junior Tri-West quarterback committed to the University of Louisville on Thursday, three weeks after receiving an offer from coach Jeff Brohm and the Cardinals. He is the first player to commit to Louisville in the 2027 recruiting class.

Sorgi, the son of former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Jim Sorgi, attended a camp at Louisville earlier this month, leading to the offer. It was Sorgi’s first scholarship offer.

Tri-West Hendricks High School sophomore Jackson Sorgi (19) warms up on the field before the start of an IHSAA varsity football game against Western Boone High School, Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, at Tri-West Hendricks High School.

“During my unofficial visit, I was able to have great conversations with the coaches,” Sorgi said. “The facilities are fantastic and the culture they’ve built at Louisville is second to none. After my visit, I knew that playing for coach Brohm was an opportunity I just couldn’t pass up.”

As a sophomore, Sorgi completed 59.2% of his passes for 1,729 yards and 19 touchdowns with four interceptions for Tri-West, which finished 8-5 and won a Class 3A sectional championship. Sorgi, also a standout baseball player, ran for 225 yards and four TDs.

Jim Sorgi works on Tri-West’s staff as an assistant. Jim, who played at Wisconsin in college, was a sixth-round pick of the Colts in 2004 and went on to be a backup for Peyton Manning through the 2009 season.

“He’s super helpful,” Jack said last season of having his father on the coaching staff. “He sees everything on the field. He talks me through stuff, even in practice. Not only me but the whole team. Offense and defense. Everybody asks him questions.”

Sorgi said it is “awesome to be the first committed recruit in the class” for Louisville but added it did not factor into his decision.

“My main goal was to find the best fit for me and make sure that I make the right decision,” he said. “After my visit and after meeting with coach Brohm and (offensive coordinator) Brian Brohm, I knew there was no doubt Louisville is where I want to play after high school.”
