On Thursday, June 26, the Boston Celtics added Amari Williams and Max Shulga to the roster via the second round of the NBA Draft. In total, Brad Stevens made three picks, with the first-round selection being Hugo Gonzalez out of Real Madrid. Very little is known about Gonzalez or what his potential ceiling could be at the NBA level.
And while both Williams and Shulga have competed in the collegiate ranks for multiple years, there are still some questions lingering over how they could slot into the Celtics rotation, should they earn minutes under Mazzulla. Of course, as second-round picks, they’re likely to spend more time with the Maine Celtics during their rookie and potentially sophomore campaigns.
During a recent episode of the “Taylor Talks Celtics” podcast, host Adam Taylor was joined by professional scout Antonio Dias to discuss Gonzalez’s skill set, upside and expectations for the coming season. The duo also dove into what to expect from both Williams and Shulga.
