PGA Tour Announces Change for Scottish Open Final Round originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Scottish Open leaderboard is shaping up to be quite interesting before the final round on Sunday. Wyndham Clark climbed up quite a few spots on Saturday, bringing the competition to Chris Gotterup, who holds the lead.
But besides players, PGA Tour announced some changes to the final round as well, though for separate reasons.
Due to forecasted dense sea fog during the morning, final‑round tee times at the Genesis Scottish Open will be adjusted to a two‑tee start from approximately 11:30 a.m. – 1:40 p.m. local time.
This means the 79 players will depart in threesomes off both the 1st and 10th tees within that window, rather than the traditional single‑tee opening before dawn.
The later start gives the fog extra time to lift and, by splitting the field between two starting holes, ensures that all groups can complete 18 holes in daylight.
Besides Clark and Gotterup, Ludvig Åberg is also in contention. He climbed up a good number of spots after making eight birdies on Friday.
“It was nice to birdie 3, the par 5, and I think if I had not birdied 3, I think that would have been almost felt like three dropped shots in a row. It was nice to do that,” he said on Friday.
“Made a lot of putts today, which was nice, sort of about 15- to 25-foot range, which definitely helps. But overall, pleased with the score, and looking forward to a nice weekend.”
