Pep Guardiola insists winning FA Cup is not enough

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has clarified that winning the FA Cup will not be enough to consider the season a success.

The City boss has faced a challenging campaign, dealing with several difficulties, including injuries and a drop in form from some of his top players.

Despite these struggles, City defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0 in the FA Cup semi-finals, securing a place in the final against Crystal Palace.

When asked if qualifying for the Champions League and winning the FA Cup would mark a successful season, Guardiola rejected the idea.

“No – the season has not been good,” he said. “We are a thousand-million points behind Liverpool! The season has not been good.”

Guardiola reflects on FA Cup semi-final and Premier League push

Speaking about the semi-final, Guardiola admitted that his team was fortunate in their victory, acknowledging the chances Forest had during the game.

“Of course, we are lucky we cannot deny that, they had chances,” Guardiola added. “But apart from the actions they had, the game in general was really good. Really pleased to be in the final again.”

Looking ahead to the Premier League, Guardiola urged his players to remain calm and focused.

“We have to be calm now, recover,” he said. “We have four finals [in the Premier League]. And then play Crystal Palace, and we saw on Saturday how good they are.”

Manchester City will look to add another FA Cup trophy to their collection when they face Palace on May 17.
