Patrick Reed has finally won an event in his home state of Texas.
He captured his first LIV Golf win in 41 starts Sunday at 2025 LIV Golf Dallas, coming out on top after a four-man playoff against Louis Oosthuizen, Paul Casey and Jinichiro Kozuma at Maridoe with a birdie on the first playoff hole.
“I think the biggest relief is finally winning in my home state,” Reed said. “They popped that news to me that I haven’t won in Texas, so to finally get that done meant a lot. Obviously to get my first win here, part of LIV, meant so much to me. I tried to mess it up. After making birdie on the first, I seemed to leave every putt short, and just kind of putting pretty tentative.
“It was one of those things that you have that putt there to win in the final actual hole of regulation and hitting a good putt, doesn’t go in there, leave it short. When I had that downhill one, I thought I left it short too, but making birdie on the last always helps.”
Reed led by as many as five shots in the final round, but his lead quickly wilted on a hot day in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. He had five bogeys on the front nine, but even-par golf on the back nine got him into a playoff.
Jon Rahm’s top-10 streak came to an end Sunday, finishing T-11. He had finished inside of the top 10 in every LIV Golf event he had finished since joining the league last year.
Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers GC won the team competition for the third straight week, beating Dustin Johnson’s 4 Aces GC by seven shots.
“I’m super proud of the way everybody played. We all finished pretty much top 10. I think 11th for Baan, but it’s close enough,” DeChambeau said. “We just played stellar golf today. To three-peat here in Dallas in my hometown is fantastic. The people showed up, they showed out, and what a great atmosphere. This is what LIV Golf is all about. Man, I’m super pumped for more to come.”
LIV Golf’s next event is LIV Golf Andalucia, set for July 11-13, at Valderrama in Spain.
