Patrick Mahomes Makes Tom Brady Admission Before NFL Season

Patrick Mahomes Makes Tom Brady Admission Before NFL Season originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes joined television personality Kay Adams on the “Up & Adams” show on Monday morning.

During the segment, Adams discussed several career topics with the three-time Super Bowl champion, including how it feels for Mahomes to be entering his ninth NFL season.

The Chiefs’ star has reached the Super Bowl in five of the past six seasons, a feat matched only by NFL legend Tom Brady.

Brady has publicly stated in the past that if he had to pick one quarterback in today’s league to reach or surpass his achievements, it’d be Mahomes.

Meanwhile, during the show, Mahomes revealed that he has been speaking with Brady a considerable amount this offseason, seeking guidance and advice.

“Having Tom, a guy like that, say that, I mean, just motivates me even more,” said Mahomes. “And I’ve actually talked to Tom a good amount this off-season, and it’s cool that he wants to give me advice.”

When Adams asked the Kansas City passer for some insider information regarding those conversations, Mahomes said as much as he could while still keeping the details to himself.

“I got to keep the secrets, you know, but he just always talks about being yourself, he thinks that, which I truly believe too, is that guys can spot when you’re not authentic, and you’re not putting in the work,” said Mahomes. “And that’s something that he did every single day. That’s why guys respect him so much. And that’s all I’m going to do for the rest of my career.”

Mahomes followed that up by affirming that he always carries himself with authenticity, prioritizing the goal of winning football games.
