Look! Up in the sky!
It’s a bird!
It’s a plane!
It’s . . . Cam Newton!
The latest, and highly-anticipated, adaptation of Superman was released to silver screens across the nation on Friday. Directed by James Gunn and starring David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, the film follows everyone’s favorite Daily Planet reporter as he tries to protect the world against the evil Lex Luthor.
But despite the excitement around the new blockbuster, Carolina Panthers fans might tell you that they’ve seen this story already. In fact, the team released their own “trailer” of their own Superman last night . . .

“Superman,” of course, was one of Newton’s handful of nicknames. He certainly earned the moniker, too—having powered the Panthers to the first three-peat in NFC South history as well as the organization’s second-ever (and last) Super Bowl appearance a decade ago.
Newton played 10 of his 11 NFL campaigns for Carolina, with his last snap coming in 2021. He still stands as the only Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year in franchise history.
And with the ten-year anniversary of that decorated 2015 campaign coming up, perhaps Superman will make his long-awaited return back to Charlotte and save the day at least one more time.
