Panthers lose running back for entire 2025 season before training camp

Carolina running back Jonathon Brooks will be out for the entire 2025 season.

The news came as part of a series of moves by the Panthers on Thursday. Brooks was placed on the physically unable to perform list.

Carolina’s second-round pick in 2024 tore his ACL in Week 14 of his rookie season. It was the second such injury the 21-year-old had suffered in the span of 13 months.

Brooks had nine carries for 22 yards and three receptions for 23 yards in those three games last year. His final year at Texas in 2023 put him on the map with 1,139 yard and 11 total touchdowns. Brooks will have plenty of time to rehab before the 2026 season.

Additionally, Carolina formally released edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney. The hometown prospect lead the team with 5.5 sacks last year. The roster is currently at 62 players before the start of rookie minicamp
