The Brazilian fans are widely known for their support of their national team, but when it comes to their childhood clubs, they have a different approach. Palmeiras was the first Brazilian club to play at the Club World Cup, and more of what they showed at the Bank of America Stadium is to come.
The team from Sao Paulo dominated the domestic competitions in the last couple of years. Under the management of Portuguese head coach Abel Ferreira, the club won the Copa do Brasil in 2020, two successive Libertadore 2020 and 2021, and the Serie A in 2022 and 2023.
The club played in the Club World Cup before, but never won the tournament. After winning the continental title in 2021, they went to the Club World Cup final against Chelsea and lost in overtime. Now, they are back and showed the world what their fans can do, even thousands of miles away from home.
On Saturday, 24 hours before the game against Porto at the MetLife Stadium on Sunday, the fans crowded the Times Square in New York, and showed a glimpse of what Brazilian fans are capable of doing to support their childhood club.

Some American fans watching the game on Sunday shared their admiration for Palmeiras crowd, calling the supporters “real fans” and were loud even with the third section of the stadium almost empty.

Palmeiras and Porto with the most exciting game so far
The game started with both teams going at each other at full speed – a normal approach when the game starts. After a couple of minutes, both tactics created by the managers started to kick in, and from that moment on, Palmeiras and Porto delivered the most exciting game in the competition so far.
A couple of starters of the Brazilian club were on the bench, such as the attacking midfielder Raphael Veiga. On the other side, Porto went with their third-string goalkeeper, and he delivered the game of his life. Claudio Ramos defended the Palmeiras goal attempts as if his life depended on it, and didn’t allow a single goal in the first half.

In the second half, Palmeiras controlled the game, creating fast and explosive plays to give their strikers a chance to score in counter-attacks. Porto, on the other hand, didn’t create as much as in the first half, and the frustration was visible on the players.
With the draw, both teams are currently in 2n place (Palmeiras) and 3rd place (Porto), ahead of Inter Miami.
