Ottawa Senators Owner Michael Andlauer Sells His Healthcare Company to UPS in $2.2B Deal

Ottawa Senators owner Michael Andlauer is making a major move off the ice. On Thursday, global shipping giant UPS announced it will acquire Andlauer Healthcare Group (AHG), the Canadian company Andlauer founded, in a deal worth CAD $2.2 billion (about USD $1.6 billion).

AHG specializes in third-party logistics and cold chain transportation—essential for delivering sensitive medical supplies that require precise temperature control. It’s been Andlauer’s main business focus for years, but now he’s cashing out—though not stepping away entirely.

Once the deal closes, Andlauer will continue in a leadership role with UPS as head of the new UPS Canada Healthcare and AHG division. He’ll stay involved in building the company’s healthcare logistics services, now backed by one of the world’s biggest delivery networks.

“UPS Healthcare and AHG employees share a similar customer and patient-centric culture with a relentless focus on quality,” Andlauer said in a statement. “Once the transaction is completed, the businesses will offer an even broader set of specialized logistics services to customers throughout Canada.”

While the move may not change his day-to-day with the Senators right away, it does mark a shift in Andlauer’s professional priorities—something Sens fans will be watching closely. Since taking over as owner last year, he’s made it clear he wants to build a long-term winner in the capital, not to mention a new arena.

At the moment, Andlauer’s NHL team is immersed in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoff and the Battle of Ontario with a pivotal Game 3 at home just hours away.

The sale of AHG is expected to close later this year, pending shareholder and regulatory approvals. Andlauer and his management group, who hold a controlling stake in AHG, have agreed to support the deal.

According to the release, UPS posted a revenue last year of $91.1 billion.
