Orioles Trade Seranthony Domínguez to Blue Jays for Top Pitching Prospect Juaron Watts-Brown originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline, the Baltimore Orioles made a deal with the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays, sending right-handed reliever Seranthony Domínguez north of the border in exchange for pitching prospect Juaron Watts-Brown, Toronto’s No. 10-ranked prospect.

Domínguez, a free agent at the end of the year, has been one of the few bright spots in a tough season for Baltimore. The 30-year-old has logged 41 innings with a 3.24 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. Overall, Dominguez will likely continue to be used in high-leverage situations for the Blue Jays as they continue to sit atop the American League East standings.
For the Orioles, the 2025 campaign has fallen short of expectations. Entering play at 49–58 and sitting in last place in the AL East, Baltimore is expected to be among the more active sellers at the deadline. Veterans such as Ryan O’Hearn, Charlie Morton, Zach Eflin, and even Cedric Mullins are reportedly drawing interest from contending clubs.
This marks Baltimore’s second trade of the week after moving left-handed reliever Gregory Soto, one of the more sought-after bullpen arms available. As the deadline nears, the Orioles appear committed to retooling for the future, with a focus on adding young, controllable talent rather than making short-term upgrades.
