New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson was the only first-year player not at the opening of rookie minicamp practice on Friday, per CLNS Media’s Taylor Kyles.
There was no specified reason for his absence.
Some believe Henderson has a real shot at beating out Rhamondre Stevenson to become the new starting running back for the Patriots. He’s a talented back with a trifecta of talents, including explosive playmaking abilities as a rusher, high-end receiving talent and elite pass protection abilities.
It has been a long time since the Patriots had a potential home run option in the offensive backfield. They are expected to finally have that element with Henderson on the roster.

The Patriots have reportedly signed eight of their 11 rookie draft picks. Henderson’s name wasn’t on that list. A deal will obviously get done in time, and fans shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to see the former Ohio State standout in action.
