One key stat to know about each of the Colts' 8 draft picks in 2025 class

The Indianapolis Colts made eight picks in the 2025 NFL draft, beginning with Tyler Warren in Round 1 and ending with Hunter Wohler in Round 7.

To begin getting to know these newest members of the Colts, let’s dive into one stat about each player that helps describe who they were on the football field in college.

With help from Pro Football Focus’ metrics, here is one stat to know about each of the Colts’ eight selections.

TE Tyler Warren

104 receptions and 1,230 yards: The Colts need a passing game presence from the tight end position and Warren can provide that. He finished off the 2024 season with 104 receptions on 135 targets (77.0%) for 1,230 yards. As GM Chris Ballard has described, with his size and hands, Warren always seems to be open and can be a huge threat over the middle of the field.

DE JT Tuimoloau

A well-rounded skill set: Against both the run and the pass, Tuimoloau was effective. He finished the 2024 season with 51 pressures, which ranked T14 among all defensive ends, and his run-blocking grade of 87.3 ranked sixth.

CB Justin Walley

Stingy in coverage: Walley allowed a completion rate of just 42% this past season. For his career, quarterbacks completed only 53% of their passes against Walley. He’s also had good ball production with three interceptions and 10 pass breakups the last two seasons combined.

OT Jalen Travis

Excellent in pass protection: Travis was very good in pass pro as Iowa State‘s left tackle in 2024. Over 475 pass-blocking reps, he allowed just one sack and 11 pressures. Among all tackles, he ranked 15th in pass-blocking efficiency.

RB DJ Giddens

Explosive ball carrier: Giddens rushed for 1,343 yards and did so on only 206 attempts because he averaged 6.5 yards per rush. Ballard would mention how difficult he can be to bring down because of his contact balance. Giddens ranked sixth among backs in average yards after contact, 20th in missed tackles forced, and 15th in rushes of 10-plus yards.

QB Riley Leonard

Taking care of the ball: Leonard threw 21 touchdowns last season to just six interceptions. He was also efficient, completing 66% of his throws at Notre Dame, and among all quarterbacks, he had the 12th-lowest turnover-worthy play rate in 2024. One other stat I’ll mention, Leonard rushed for 982 yards last year as well.

IDL Tim Smith

78.9 run defense grade: Smith was a rotational defender at Alabama, and his greatest impact came in the run game, where he graded out quite well, according to PFF’s metrics. Smith can hopefully provide the Colts a big boost in that regard behind DeForest Buckner and Grover Stewart.

S/LB Hunter Wohler

Why the Colts want to have Wohler play some linebacker: Although a safety at Wisconsin, the majority of Wohler’s snaps came down in the box, where he graded out well as a run defender and has been a reliable tackler as well, according to PFF’s grading system. With safety experience, he can add some more coverage ability to the linebacker position for the Colts. Wohler’s overall versatility will give the Colts options in how they utilize him.
