Olivier Giroud (38) looks set to return to France this summer, with Foot Mercato reporting that Lille OSC have reached an agreement with the 2018 World Cup winner. The Frenchman is expected to sign a one-year contract, with an option for a further year.

Le Parisien have confirmed this report, but adds that while his move to France is imminent, it will not be immediate. The forward will play one more game for his current side, Los Angeles FC, when they take on Vancouver Whitecaps FC before leaving on a free transfer.

Giroud has only managed to score five times in 37 appearances since swapping AC Milan for Los Angeles, but there is hope that the all-time record goalscorer for France will find more success back in his home country as the replacement for Jonathan David (25) who is set to leave the club in a matter of days when his contract expires.
