Ohio State rallies past Michigan to win Big Ten men's lacrosse title

Ohio State won the Big Ten title in men’s lacrosse for the first time, overcoming a three-goal deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat No. 12 Michigan 10-8 on April 19 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The Buckeyes are ranked No. 6 and are 12-2 overall and 4-1 in the conference.

The regular-season conference title is the program’s first since 2014, when the team tied for first in the ECAC.

Ohio State trailed 8-5 with 12:01 to play in the game and scored five unanswered goals for the win. Gannon Matthews had three goals for Ohio State. Garrett Haas had two goals.

With the win, Ohio State secured the No. 1 seed in the Big Ten Tournament and a first-round bye. This year’s tournament semifinals and final will be held May 1-3 at Michigan. Ohio State will play the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between No. 4 seed Michigan and No. 5 seed Rutgers.
