There’s a lot more turnover with the roster in college football than the pros, and even more, now that we have the transfer rules, name, image and likeness, and early NFL departures that are a part of the game. So, each year, there’s an effort to bring in new faces to the roster, and part of that is distributing a uniform and assigning each a jersey number included with that scarlet and gray kit.
And it’s pretty important for a player. A jersey number becomes synonymous with a player and almost a part of who they are, with branding and a lifetime marriage in some cases when they further their careers, and more.
The Ohio State football program has been updating its roster for the upcoming 2025-2026 season and with it, we now know that the newcomers to the program will be donning on the back and front of those jerseys as preseason camp get started. Here’s a look at all of the new jersey numbers for the incoming freshmen and transfers for the Ohio State football program.

- Eli Brickhandler, Quarterback | No. 6
- Beau Atkinson, Defensive End | No. 14
- Justin Terry, Offensive Lineman | No. 65
- Jackson Courville, Kicker | No. 96
