NFL World in Disbelief Over Raiders’ Christian Wilkins Move originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
One of the big offseason mysteries for the Las Vegas Raiders has been the injury status of defensive tackle Christian Wilkins. He was placed on the physically unable to perform list at the start of training camp, and the team was always vague when asked when he would return.
Well, it looks like he won’t be returning at all. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Raiders have decided to cut Wilkins outright.
The most important detail is that Las Vegas was able to void the remaining $35.2 million of guaranteed money he had left on his deal. This was due to how he treated rehab this offseason, and the Raiders must believe he violated the terms of his contract.

He is appealing to the NFLPA to force the Raiders to pay him his guarantees. This puts a sour end to a brief tenure in Las Vegas for Wilkins. He played just five games after receiving a $110 million contract last offseason.
He was supposed to be an important player for the Raiders for years to come, but that was never the case. The NFL world can’t believe how abruptly it ended.
“A reminder guaranteed ain’t always guaranteed. Wow,” ESPN’s Booger McFarland wrote on X.
“One time, I’d just love for the Raiders to have a big time free agent signing work out, one time…,” one fan wrote.
“How horrible does your approach to rehab need to be for them to void your contract and feel confident that they’ll win the appeal?” another fan pondered.
“Wow, that is shocking. Definitely one of the largest guarantee voids in NFL history,” a fan commented.
“Can’t say I am too surprised. Rumblings about his rehab way back,” former Raiders beat writer Vic Tafur wrote on X.
