NFL roster cuts: Cardinals HC Jonathan Gannon talks of challenges of cutting players

With the roster cutdown date looming and a deadline of 4 p.m. ET (1 p.m. Arizona time) on Tuesday, all teams must have their active roster trimmed to 53 players.

It’s not something that is fun.

Head coach Jonathan Gannon described the challenges of it.

“It’s tough,” he said on Monday. “We’ve got really good guys that pour a lot into this thing, so it’s hard. It is the human side of you, and like I said, they sacrifice a lot and they’re all team guys.

“It’s not like you’re dying to get anyone out of the building, you know what I mean? I wish we could keep them all, but you just can’t.”

The Cardinals announced 12 roster cuts Monday. It included quarterback Clayton Tune.

A whole lot of other player cuts are coming.
