NFL analysts fire back at criticisms of Shedeur Sanders

One of the most polarizing prospects in the 2025 NFL draft is former Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Over the course of the last four months, his draft stock has gone from battling to be the No. 1 overall pick to now falling all the way out of the first round. Some of this has been prompted but anonymous reports on Sanders from an NFL assistant coach talking about Sanders formal interview. He labeled Sanders as “entitled” and called it the worst formal interview he’d ever been a part of.

This caught the attention of NFL analysts Ryan Clark and Kyle Brandt, both of whom took to social media to defend Sanders and vilify that assistant head coach.

The reality is that a person is allowed to have whatever opinion they want on a prospect. And if, after sitting down and talking with Sanders, this is how one coach felt, why is it a bad thing? We shouldn’t act like Sanders has always acted with maturity on the field because he definitely hasn’t. He’s had multiple instances with opposing players and even officials in just two seasons at Colorado.

A first-round pick is a huge investment in a player and when you do have some shortcomings to your game that are completely legitimate, the character things can become the tiebreaker.
