New York Jets players who need to improve in 2025 after rough season

As a whole, the New York Jets are keen for a bounce-back season in 2025 after turning the page to a new chapter under head coach Aaron Glenn.

If that Jets are going to do that, some players need to improve on what their play looked like last season. Specifically, we have three of those.

Here are Jets Wire’s three players that need to improve in 2025 after a rough season:

RB Breece Hall

New York Jets running back Breece Hall (20) runs with the ball in the first quarter as Indianapolis Colts defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo (54) is shown in the background, Sunday, November 17, 2024, in East Rutherford.

Hall is the poster child for this type of player on the Jets roster.

Hall had a career-worst season as he dealt with injuries including a knee issue and speaking at minicamp Hall said it was a bigger deal than most realized.

With Justin Fields as the Jets’ new quarterback, a positive rushing attack would help the QB get settled.

CB Sauce Gardner

Gardner is interesting on this list.

Could he stand to improve in 2025 as compared to last year? Yes.

But Gardner sets such a high bar that even his subpar year in 2024 after a pair of All-Pro seasons was still not too bad.

Even so, with Glenn in his first season in charge, a better year from Gardner would be huge on and off the field.

CB Brandon Stephens

Baltimore Ravens cornerback Brandon Stephens (21) celebrates in the end zone after teammate Baltimore Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen (6) recovered Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence's (16) early fourth quarter fumble.

Previously with the Baltimore Ravens, Stephens had his best year in 2023 as Pro Football Focus graded him a 69.2 overall for his efforts. He hauled in two interceptions that season.

But Stephens dropped off in 2024 as his PFF grade fell to 55.8.

When Stephens signed in New York this offseason it was known the Jets were banking on his past potential. He needs to show it as Stephens has to fill a starting cornerback spot.
