The New York Giants offense has a lot to prove coming off a 3-14 campaign that earned them the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
General manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll, who were retained despite that brutal record, were given the shot to assemble new pieces to the offensive side of the ball. That resulted in major additions to the quarterback room.
With Russell Wilson expected to lead the way, the Giants also added Jameis Winston and No. 25 overall pick Jaxson Dart to the fray. Meanwhile, they’re hoping some added depth to the offensive line will help improve the scenario in which injuries take their toll.
With all that said, Kyle Soppe of Pro Football Network isn’t a fan of the new-look offense, ranking the unit at No. 31 in the NFL.
It would seem that rock bottom has already occurred for the New York Giants (bottom-two grade in three of the past four seasons). They aren’t loaded with immediate potential, but skill players like Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Malik Nabers showed enough to have us encouraged about the future.
Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston are place-holders at the QB position. How the 25th pick in Jaxson Dart develops will go a long way toward determining how effective this rebuild will be. In a perfect world, he gets live reps in a low-risk environment this season and is positioned to enter the 2026 season as New York’s unquestioned QB1.
It’s difficult to have a ton of faith in an offense that ranked 31st in points per game, 30th in total yards per game, and 30th in yards per play. One offseason wouldn’t make them an elite unit.
However, even Wilson at this stage in his career is better than anything the Giants would have under center. Meanwhile, Winston is always good for a few 300-yard games if he needs to come in.
The biggest key for the Giants will be the offensive line and whether that unit can stay healthy. If left tackle Andrew Thomas can put together a fully healthy campaign, the entire offense will already be better than it was in 2024.
There are still a few months until we get to see the Giants’ offense in action, but there’s certainly more upside than the unit had last season.
