New Report on Celtics' Jaylen Brown, Derrick White Trade Decision

New Report on Celtics’ Jaylen Brown, Derrick White Trade Decision originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Since trading Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis, the Boston Celtics have had a pretty quiet offseason. They have signed their draft picks on top of signing Luka Garza and Josh Minott, but haven’t made any significant moves.

With their new additions, they are projected to be slightly above the NBA’s second tax apron after all their efforts to get under it. Many expect them to keep making trades to get under it again, and even the first tax apron if they can.

Multiple players on the team have been floated as players Boston may dump to get under it, including their newest trade acquisitions, Anfernee Simons and Georges Niang. Sam Hauser has also been floated as someone the Celtics might trade to achieve this goal.

Another option would be to trade Jaylen Brown and/or Derrick White, as both are expensive, and they would get Boston value back in return. However, when asked about it, ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel confirmed Boston will make more trades this offseason, but odds are that White and Brown will stay put.

“No, more moves coming for Celtics,” Siegel wrote. “Very unlikely it will be Brown or White. Boston is still slightly over the second apron and wants to move below.”

Even though the Celtics have agreed to trade Holiday and Porzingis to Portland and Atlanta, respectively, those trades are technically not official yet. It’s possible they may expand either or both trades to reroute Simons and/or Niang to another team to get under the league’s tax aprons.
