New Heights girls win Ozark 7 title

WEBB CITY, Mo. — Jesalin Bever won three individual titles to help lead the New Heights Christian Academy Cougar girls to a conference title on Wednesday at the Ozark 7 Conference track and field meet at Webb City High School.

College Heights finished first with 181 points. Thomas Jefferson was second with 165 and McAuley finished third with 81 points. Exeter was fourth (56), Wheaton was fifth (28) and Verona (4) was sixth.

Bever logged her first win in the 100m hurdles, where she won by a comfortable margin. Her time of :17.81 was well ahead of runner up Honesty Hall of Exeter (:20.58). Bever’s teammate, Lily Moore was third with a time of :21.4.

Bever also earned first in the 300m hurdles (:50.35). New Heights’ Truly Prater was second (:58.0) and McAuley’s Samantha Perrin (:58.37) was third.

Bever (:28.73) captured her third individual conference title when she edged out teammate Ella Nelson (:28.94) in the 200m dash.

Nelson (:13.97) and Allie Stout finished second and third in the girls 100m dash. Exeter’s Hall won the race with a :13.92 effort.

Nelson was the victor in the 400m dash with a 1:05.41. TJ’s Kirra Moser was second (1:05.485) and New Heights’ Allie Stout was third (1:07.0).

The Cougar 4x400m relay team of Lilian Lackey, Hannah Melton, Shiloh Castle and Juliette Maningas won their race with a time of 4:45.78. TJ (Ava Farris, Presley Long, Michelle Razo and Vivian Sharp) placed second (5:04.34).

Karly Dorris (8.07m) and Maningas (7.66m) posted a 2-3 finish for the Cougars in the triple jump. Exeter’s Kaylyn Weiser won with an 8.95m leap.

TJ

Thomas Jefferson (Anna Hiebert, Moser, Emmanuelle Sweeny and Haley Orr) won the 4x200m relay (1:58.94). New Heights (Moore, Hannah Melton, Lackey and Caitlin Meppelink) took second (2:03.2).

Hiebert, Moser, Sweeny and Orr also combined for a win in the 4x100m relay (:55.9). New Heights (Moore, Maningas, Meppelink and Londyn Eidson) finished second (:57.84).

Hiebert, a freshman, claimed the conference title in the high jump with a leap of 1.52m. New Heights’ Bever was second (1.42m) and McAuley’s Ellie Bohachick was third (1.27m). Hiebert also won the long jump with a 4.64m leap.

TJ’s Macie Shifferd easily won the 1600m race with a 5:40.63. New Heights’ Maria Anderegg was second (6:06.49) and McAuley’s Olivia Parrigon was third (6:08.88).

Shifferd also earned the conference title in the 3200m race with a time of 14:19.1. Her teammate, Sharp (14:37.93), was second and New Heights’ Anderegg (15:16.72) was third.

TJ’s Lannah Grigg won the shot put (9.56m). Wheaton’s Perla Hinojosa was second (9.38m) and McAuley’s Samantha Conrad (8.74m) was third.

Grigg also earned a conference title in the discus with a 32.24m toss. McAuley’s Conrad was second (27.15m) and Grigg’s teammate, Maggie Sutton (24.1m) was third.

Sutton captured first in the javelin (27.53m) and Grigg (25.47m) was runner up.

McAuley

In the girls 4x800m relay, McAuley anchor Olivia Parrigon received the baton about a half lap back of New Heights’ McKenna Anderegg, but closed the gap and helped the Warriors earn nearly an eight-second win in the race. McAuley (Bohachick, Edie Nolan, Riley Sears and Parrigon) recorded a time of 11:42.72, ahead of New Heights (Maria Anderegg, Lackey, Prater and McKenna Anderegg) who finished at 11:50.67.

Parrigon also won the 800m run (2:37.13). New Heights’ Maria Anderegg (2:44.7) was second and TJ’s Moser (2:49.4) finished third.
