New Eagles LB Jihaad Campbell compares himself to three All-Pro players

New Eagles linebacker Jihaad Campbell isn’t selling his NFL future short.

Campbell, selected No. 31 overall last night by Philadelphia, held his introductory press conference on Friday afternoon. He addressed several topics with reporters, including his grandfather’s fandom for the Eagles.

When asked about players he models his game after, Campbell named three current All-Pros: Eagles LB Zack Baun, 49ers LB Fred Warner, and Cowboys pass-rusher Micah Parsons.

“I gotta go with Zack Baun, for sure,” Campbell said. “Him just being versatile, his instincts, his reactions, his awareness of the game. He’s definitely special. A guy like Fred Warner definitely has a lot of great instincts to him, too. Obviously, a guy like Micah Parsons, a guy who can do it all.

These are high standards for Campbell. Baun is coming off a season where he was named first-team All-Pro and helped lead Philadelphia to a Super Bowl title. Warner has been the model of consistency at linebacker, recording 100+ tackles every year since entering the league. Parsons already has 52.5 sacks in just four seasons.

Campbell has the potential to be just as effective due to his combination of athleticism, size, and versatility. His value as a pass-rusher (off the edge and as a blitzer) will make Campbell an immediate impact player at the pro level.
