Nets' Danny Wolf reacts to jittery debut in Las Vegas Summer League

LAS VEGAS — Brooklyn Nets forward Danny Wolf was the 27th pick of the 2025 NBA Draft out of Michigan despite having the kind of unique game that could surprise fans. Brooklyn has been intentional about adding players with versatility and multi-positional effectiveness and someone like Wolf had his first chance to show what he could do against NBA competition.

“Definitely not what I was hoping for by any means. Just got to put it in the rear view mirror, and move on. Just had to get my feet wet a little bit, but move on from this game and just get back,” Wolf said following Thursday’s 90-81 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Las Vegas Summer League. Wolf did not have the kind of outing he was hoping for, but he did finish the contest with four points, six rebounds, and six assists.

“I think it’s one game, and the Thunder did a job of speeding us up,” Wolf explained when discussing why he struggled in his debut. “They switched everything and just kind of got under us and kind of played into the pressure a little bit. It’s just kind of letting the game come to me a little bit better. Again, it was my first experience, and I kind of got sped up far too quickly and far too easily, and I know I’ll be better next game.”

Wolf is one of five players that the Nets selected in the Draft and he is one of four players in the class that could handle the ball this season along with Egor Demin, Nolan Traore, Ben Saraf. Wolf had an interesting profile coming into the Draft because of his ability to handle and shoot the ball while standing at 6-foot-11 and 254 pounds, making him one of the biggest players on the roster.

Wolf did have some difficulties getting to his sweet spots on the floor and finishing at the rim, but he also had some moments where he displayed the unique kind of passing and and scoring touch he brings to the floor. Wolf will have better performances moving forward as he gets more acclimated with his teammates, but it seems like he still has his confidence in his ability to contribute.
