Nation's No. 3 RB Derrek Cooper takes Georgia official visit

This weekend was full of big time visitors for official visits at the University of Georgia. The headliner is No. 1 linebacker Tyler Atkinson, but there is more top recruits visiting than just him.

Another priority recruit for Georgia’s official visit weekend is four-star running back Derrek Cooper.

Cooper has been a prime target for the Bulldogs for over a year, as they intensely pursue a top-tier running back. Miami poses a significant challenge in this recruitment, with Auburn also proving to be a tough competiton, and Alabama remaining a factor. This visit could be Georgia’s final opportunity to impress Cooper before he makes his commitment.

Cooper was once briefly committed to Georgia during his recruitment in June 2024. Taking this final swing, hopefully, the Bulldogs can replicate what they did with No. 1 quarterback Jared Curtis and have Cooper recommit to the program.

Along with Cooper the Bulldogs have been recruiting top running backs Savion Hiter, Jae Lamar, and Ezavier Crowell. Obtaining an elite running back in the class of 2026 is a must for Kirby Smart and staff.
