The preseason has come to a close in the NFL, but that doesn’t mean the drama from the league is anywhere near done.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Minnesota Vikings have traded quarterback Sam Howell and a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft to the Philadelphia Eagles for a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 seventh-round pick. The Vikings now have an extra fifth-round pick while losing a sixth-round selection just by trading away a quarterback who may not have even made the roster.
In April during the 2025 NFL Draft, the Vikings acquired Howell and a fifth-round pick (No. 172 overall) by trading away a fifth-round pick (No. 142 overall).
Howell now heads to Philadelphia, where he is expected to backup Jalen Hurts, where their previous backup, Tanner McKee, is expected to miss part of the regular season due to injury.
