Micah Parsons Trade Rumors Aside, Cowboys Pleased With Hold-In’s Training Camp Participation originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Dallas Cowboys EDGE Micah Parsons is still without his new contract, but he isn’t taking that out on his teammates.
With Parsons’ trade request sending shockwaves around the NFL landscape, for most, that is a simple negotiation tactic (we think) to get the Dallas front office moving in a positive direction.
But to the best of our knowledge, not a single conversation has been had between both parties since, which isn’t ideal as Parsons continues to be in camp, but again, on the sidelines, not participating in drills. (That’s the case again Tuesday in Oxnard as No. 11 is wearing sneakers during the workout with the Rams.)
Meanwhile, as much as the national media wants to write all of those “Top Five Trade Landing Spots for Micah” stories, we’re pretty sure Dallas isn’t really taking phone calls there, their.
However, what has Parsons been like with everything else as the Cowboys head towards their first preseason game?
“Been really good,” head coach Brian Schottenheimer said. “I think you’ll see a lot of the same things he’s been doing. The meetings have been really good, what you see from him is the coaching piece of it and all that he’s doing, diving into the other guys. I don’t think you’ll see much different, but again, very engaged, asked good questions, and I don’t think that’s going to change.”
So, Micah is doing everything he normally would in Oxnard, aside from practicing as his “hold in” continues.
We find the next step here to be a rather logical, which is one side picking up the phone and thrashing a deal out based on the foundation of a $40 million-plus APY salary.
But in the meantime, Parsons continues to go about his business as a leader of Schottenheimer’s team, because while he might have beef with the front office, he’s not letting that impact the football relationship side of things.
Even though many in Cowboys Nation likely think he has a right to.
