Maxx Crosby Compares Ashton Jeanty to Brock Bowers, Geno Smith for One Key Reason originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Las Vegas Raiders have been in the market for a top-tier running back since the departure of Josh Jacobs last offseason. New general manager John Spytek and head coach Pete Carroll selected running back Ashton Jeanty in the 2025 NFL Draft to replace him.
Star defensive end Maxx Crosby spoke on NFL Network from Raiders training camp and already had great things to say about the generational running back prospect.
“He’s a dawg, and he’s such a good dude, that’s one thing about him, he’s such a humble kid,” Crosby said. “He’s another one. You look at Brock Bowers, you look at Geno (Smith), you look at Ashton. Dudes that have had so much success, and you would never know if you just met them and had a conversation with them. They’re such humble, hard-working dudes.”

Smith was acquired by the Raiders this offseason in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks in which Las Vegas sent a third-round pick in exchange for his talents. He will be the immediate starter for a Raiders offense that is expected to be much-improved in 2025.
Bowers was the No. 13 overall selection by Las Vegas in the 2024 NFL Draft, and he had a historic rookie season. He caught 112 passes for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro honor.
Crosby is also a decorated player in his own right as a four-time Pro Bowler and two-time member of the All-Pro Second Team. He also signed a record-breaking extension this offseason that netted him $106.5 million over three years.

So, for Jeanty to be praised by one of these players and compared to the other two means that the first-year running back is already making a strong impression at Raiders training camp.
Jeanty ran for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns at Boise State last season. He was a unanimous All-American for the Broncos and won the Doak Walker, Maxwell and Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Awards in his final collegiate campaign.
