Manchester United still have a lot of work to do in the summer transfer window to hand Ruben Amorim the resources he needs to bounce back from last season’s appalling 15th-place Premier League finish.

There were problems all over the pitch for the Red Devils, who were expected to do big business to improve the squad but have so far added only Matheus Cunha as a new senior option.

He will certainly add grit and creativity, having had a standout season for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Now new reports in Italy claim United are looking to return to the Midlands club for another signing in an attempt to bolster their midfield.

Andre interest

The Red Devils are one of three clubs looking at Wolves’ defensive midfielder Andre, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The 23-year-old is a key target for Juventus, who have previously held discussions with the player’s agent, and United’s bitter rivals Liverpool.

The report claims that United and Liverpool’s expressions of interest indicate that the Brazilian’s transfer situation could “heat up soon”.

Andre, who played 36 times for Wolves last season, has a reported price tag of €35m.

Midfield merry-go-round

The outlet reports that Juventus see the 23-year-old as a potential replacement for Douglas Luiz, who they are looking to offload after an underwhelming stint in Turin.

Luiz has been heavily linked with a move to United, either as part of an exchange deal for Jadon Sancho or as a signing in his own right, but competition for his signature has recently increased.

Should the Red Devils end up with Luiz – which could be a shrewd move given his Premier League experience with Aston Villa and his knockdown price – they could hand Juve the perfect opportunity to swoop for Andre.

On the other hand, this isn’t the first time United have been linked with the 23-year-old, who has previously been dubbed “the next Casemiro”.

The Red Devils were keen on Andre when he left Brazilian side Fluminense last summer, only to see him move to Wolves, so may be inclined to go back in for him now he’s got a season of Premier League experience under his belt.
