Apr. 23—SARTELL — The Bemidji High School boys tennis team came away with a 1-1 record in Wednesday afternoon’s triangular at Sartell.
The Lumberjacks secured a 4-3 win over Minnewaska and suffered a 4-3 loss at the hands of the Sabres.
The Jacks’ pairings had an especially strong afternoon. Bemidji went 3-0 in doubles against the Lakers, led by Jack McNallan and Josh Arel’s two-set win at No. 1 by scores of 6-1 and 6-4. Max Louvar and Chase Fairchild teamed up for a win at No. 2 doubles (6-4, 6-1) while Zach Graf and Ethan Frank grabbed a three-set victory at No. 3 (3-6, 6-4, 10-6).
The Lumberjacks also managed to nab a pair of doubles wins against Sartell. McNallan and Arel combined for a tight three-set win at No. 1 doubles (4-6, 7-6, 10-4) and Louvar and Peter Mathews took care of business at No. 2 doubles in two sets (6-4, 6-4).
BHS finished the day with two wins in singles. Blake Friese bested Minnewaska’s Aidric Vold in two sets by scores of 6-2 and 6-3. Against the Sabres, Bemidji’s sole singles victory came courtesy of Brooks Johnson at No. 3 (6-3, 6-2).
