Friday: Kade Anderson vs Zach Root

Friday will be a battle between two of the best pitchers in the SEC: Kade Anderson and Zach Root.

Anderson is currently a top-20 MLB draft prospect and is enjoying a very strong sophomore season. The lefty is 6-1 on the year with a 3.57 ERA. In 70.2 innings, Anderson has struck out 114 batters, which ranks second in the country.

On the other side, Zach Root has taken over as the Friday starter and has pitched really well for Arkansas. He’s also a lefty and is 6-3 with a 3.95 ERA. He’s also a strikeout machine, punching out 92 batters in 62.0 innings.

This should be one of the better pitching matchups of the weekend, so every run is going to count on Friday.

Saturday: Anthony Eyanson vs Gage Wood

On Saturday we’re set to see a matchup between Anthony Eyanson and Gage Wood.

Eyanson is in the midst of a great year and is coming off a complete game effort where he allowed one run to Texas A&M. Like Anderson, he’s been striking guys out left and right and ranks fourth in the nation with 105 Ks.

Gage Wood is coming off an injury, but has been the Razorback’s Saturday starter for a few weeks now. He’s only thrown 4.0 and 3.0 innings his last two times out, but he’s been pretty good. In 14 innings this season, Wood has given up six runs (3.77 ERA) while striking out 28 batters.

Sunday: TBA vs TBA

Both teams have listed their Sunday starter as TBA, but we have a pretty good idea on who they’ll end up being.

For the last two weeks, Casan Evans has started on the mound for the Tigers. The former reliever has been money since moving into the starting role, giving up just three runs. He’s been one of LSU’s best pitchers all year, and if they don’t use him out of the pen on Friday or Saturday, he’ll start on Sunday.

Arkansas is likely going to go with Landon Beidelschies, who’s been their Sunday starter for some time. He’s struggled a bit recently, so there’s a chance they make a change, but my money’s on Beidelschies.
