LSU football added the 11th player to its 2026 recruiting class on Saturday, picking up a commitment from defensive back Dez Ellis.
Ellis, who plays his high school ball at Franklin Parrish in Winnsboro, LA, is ranked as the No. 12 prospect in the state, according to 247Sports. Ellis is a dynamic athlete and several programs recruited him as a quarterback, but with his commitment to LSU, Ellis is opting to play cornerback.
Ellis picked up an offer when visiting LSU in February. As a QB in 2024, Ellis threw for 2,189 yards and 31 scores. He added 827 yards on the ground to go along with 10 rushing touchdowns. Ellis was the first Louisiana cornerback to receive an offer from LSU this cycle.
Of LSU’s 11 commits, seven are Louisiana natives. The best of that bunch is defensive lineman Richard Anderson out of Edna Karr High School in New Orleans.
