LeBron James had inspiring message for young athletes ahead of Nike tour

A little later this summer, LeBron James is scheduled to join Nike in China on the Forever King Tour. It will mark the 20th anniversary of his first tour of Asia with Nike.

China has become a huge market for the NBA over the years. It started with Hall of Fame center Yao Ming’s entry into the league in 2002, and of course, late Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant helped grow the game and became a huge icon there.

James is planning on doing some work with young basketball players during his time in China in September. He had an inspiring message for such young athletes ahead of the tour.

Via Nike:

“My message has always been the same to the next generation of athletes who are inspired to play the game: If there’s something that you love to do, go out and do it,” says LeBron. “Fall in love with the process and not the results. That’s the No. 1 key to me, and I always try to instill that in anyone who’s inspired by what I do or needs words of encouragement about how to reach their goals.”

James is about to start his record 23rd NBA season. Last season, he averaged 24.4 points, 8.2 assists and 7.8 rebounds a game while shooting 51.3% from the field and 37.6% from 3-point range. He was named to the All-NBA Second Team, and he has been selected to one of the league’s All-NBA teams a record 21 times while holding another record with 21 All-Star game selections.

It is anyone’s guess how much longer the 40-year-old will remain in the NBA. He said at the 2023 ESPY Awards that the day he cannot give the game everything on the floor is the day he will retire, and it looks like he isn’t quite there yet.
