Kon Knueppel Sends Message Before NBA Draft originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
In just under a couple of weeks, the 2025 NBA Draft will take place at Barclays Center in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. Cooper Flagg, the sensational freshman forward from Duke, is expected to be the No. 1 pick once the draft opens.
But he will have a couple of teammates who are also expected to be selected in this year’s draft. One of them is Kon Knueppel, a sharpshooting guard who also just wrapped up his freshman season at Duke.
He posted a photo of himself on Instagram along with a couple of his friends as he waits for his big day on June 25 in Brooklyn.
Knueppel averaged 14.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists a game while shooting 47.9% from the field and 40.6% from 3-point range this past season. At 6-foot-7 and 217 pounds, he has plenty of size for a guard, and that is something that should make him more attractive to NBA teams than your typical run-of-the-mill 3-point specialist.
He was named the MVP of the men’s ACC Tournament after registering 18 points and eight rebounds in the Blue Devils’ 11-point win over Louisville in the conference title game.
Duke was picked by many to win the men’s NCAA championship, but it instead fell in the final four round to Houston.
A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Knueppel was a five-star recruit coming out of Wisconsin Lutheran High School. As a senior there, he led the school to an undefeated record and the Boys Basketball Division 2 State Championship.
