Kevin Durant Gifts Youth Basketball Team with Upcoming Nike Colorway

The summertime is always fun for high school hoopers as the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) hosts the annual Peach Jam event for AAU boys’ and girls’ teams across the country. A lot of NBA players have their own EYBL teams—Tyler Herro’s Team Herro, LeBron James’ Strive for Greatness, Chris Paul’s Team CP3, Carmelo Anthony’s Team Melo, and more.

One of the most successful teams on the circuit is Team Durant, envisioned by KD himself. One perk of Peach Jam is that teams get tournament-specific shoes from signature athletes. Some notable EYBL colorways from the past include the KD 11s, KD 12s, Kobe 6s, GT Cuts, and other fire releases. This year, Kevin Durant gave his team the upcoming KD 18.

I like the colorway of the shoe—it’s different from many of the other EYBL colorways Durant has produced in the past. I also like the design of the KD 18 itself. These days, people are quick to say most new Nike models from signature athletes borrow from some version of a Kobe. But this model doesn’t really have any similarities to a Kobe design.

As more colorways start to hit stores, I believe the KD 18 will become one of the most seen team shoes worn by high schools, colleges, and of course, AAU squads.

One of the first times we saw the KD 18s was when A.J. Dybantsa received his own PE for the model. From that moment, I could already tell the KD 18s were going to be a hit.
