Juventus have announced the signing of Canada striker Jonathan David on a five-year deal after his contract with Lille expired.

The 25-year-old confirmed in May he would leave French club Lille on a free transfer this summer, and he had been linked with English sides.

He scored 109 goals in 232 games for Lille, adding 30 assists, and helped them to win the 2020-21 Ligue 1 title.

David played for Belgian side Gent before moving to Lille in 2020.

Juventus said they will pay costs of £10.8m relating to the deal over three years – which is thought to be on top of his wages.

Earlier this week, Lille signed veteran striker Olivier Giroud after the France national team’s record scorer left Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC.
