Jets Named Keenan Allen Landing Spot For Justin Fields

The NFL Draft has come and gone, with the New York Jets, for the most part, doing rather well in adding some nice pieces to both sides of the ball.

With the big emphasis on getting Justin Fields a new weapon, it was LSU tight end Mason Taylor who heard his name called in the second round.

Is he the needle mover? No, but more of a solid option to start at tight end.

Garrett Wilson is still the lone star at receiver, and maybe more help is needed for Fields to have a solid group of weapons in 2025, and it is here where Connor Long of Jetsfactor.com has thrown up the name of Keenan Allen.

“Veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen entered the offseason as a free agent and remains on the open market after a down year by his standards,” Long wrote. “Allen, 33, spent the 2024 season with the Chicago Bears, starting 15 games and catching 70 passes for 744 yards and seven touchdowns on 121 targets. Adding a veteran like Allen would not only take pressure off Wilson but also provide quarterback Justin Fields with another proven, reliable target, something the New York Jets currently lack.”

Considering Allen doesn’t fall into the age demographic the Jets are aiming for, he might not be seen as an option, but alternatively, a veteran voice in an offense with youth everywhere might not be a bad thing.

Money, of course, will be a factor, but Allen has lasted this long and we are now post-draft, which means the big contracts are out there right now. Tyler Lockett signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the Tennessee Titans.  That’s a starting point.

Now, Allen would command more than that, but the point still stands. Allen is available, and likely “cheaper” than the top players, and is coming off a season where he still posted 744 yards and seven touchdowns in a “down” year.

The Jets need more help for Fields, and Allen is still on the couch.

Maybe it’s time to pick up the phone.
