Jets Duo Named New York's 'Biggest Loss' In Odd Aaron Rodgers Spin

Jets Duo Named New York’s ‘Biggest Loss’ In Odd Aaron Rodgers Spin originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey went through the roster this offseason with a broom and shipped out the players they didn’t want.

With Glenn as the new coach and Mougey as the general manager, starting this new era off on the right foot was key. For some, Aaron Rodgers was more trouble than he was worth, particularly when the on-field product left a lot to be desired.

Then there was Davante Adams, a mid-season signing, who did his best to drag the offense along, but even he failed.

Both are now with other teams (Rodgers, Steelers, and Adams the Rams), and for CBS Sports, the offensive pair loom as the franchise’s biggest losses this offseason.

“Rodgers and Adams were only together for part of the year in New York, but they obviously comprised a significant part of the offense,” CBS Sports writes.

From a pure football standpoint, Rodgers will be a loss, as many are unsure if Justin Fields can replicate Aaron’s numbers from a year ago. But perhaps more importantly, Justin won’t bring the off-field distractions Aaron did.

So in a sense Rodgers is a loss, but in another, he isn’t.

As for Adams, his 854 yards and seven touchdowns from 11 games show he’s still got juice in the tank, and the Rams will be pairing him with Puka Nacua in 2025.

Both Adams and Rodgers will be missed for varying reasons, and from a on-field standpoint, we understand CBS’ assessment, but off-field, with Rodgers, fans and franchise alike were likely happy to see him go.

So it’s an odd spin on a bad marriage.
