New York Jets general manager Darren Mougey wanted to improve the talent in the secondary this offseason. A major change occurred at safety when veteran Chuck Clark wasn’t retained in free agency. Veteran Andre Cisco was signed as his replacement, inking a one-year contract worth up to more than $8 million.
Cisco will start at safety with the returning Tony Adams. Fourth-round rookie Malachi Moore and sophomore Jaylin Simpson are behind them on the depth chart. Cisco may be a short-term solution, but he’s been a routine standout through a handful of training camp practices thus far.
Cisco was especially effective during Friday’s notable training camp session. Practice ended with a Cisco interception in the end zone, per Rich Cimini. The former Syracuse standout picked off backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor during a tense two-minute period.
Practice ends with an Andre Cisco interception in the end zone, a floater by Tyrod Taylor. It was in a two-minute period, eighth play of the drive. Offense was humming … until it wasn’t. Cisco off to a good start in camp. #Jets

Cisco is a five-year pro who played out his four-year rookie contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He totaled 229 tackles, 24 pass breakups, and eight interceptions in Duval. The Jets were thrilled to land his veteran leadership and abilities in free agency.
Cisco projects to play a sizable role in the Jets’ secondary this season. The Jets’ next open session is scheduled for Thursday, July 31st. We’ll continue monitoring Cisco’s impact at practice.
