After going through an extensive search following their separation from GM Joe Douglas, the Jets decided to take a shot on assistant GM DarrenMougeyfrom the Denver Broncos.
Mougey held various positions during his journey through the organization, and he now comes to the Big Apple where he’ll be tasked with helping turn around a squad that finished 5-12 last season and hasn’t made the playoffs in 14 years.
With the first wave of free agency done with, his next task is to tackle the NFL Draft.
After another rough season, Gang Green currently holds the seventh overall pick in the 2025 edition of the draft.
Here’s what the experts have them doing…
OT Armand Membou, Missouri
With nimble feet and a willingness to finish blocks, the 21-year-old Membou has a chance to be a very good starter at right tackle. Last year, the Jets took Olumuyiwa Fashanu in the first round to man the blind side; this year, they follow the Steelers’ lead (Pittsburgh drafted Broderick Jones in 2023 and Troy Fautanu in 2024) in picking a second consecutive Day 1 tackle.
OT Armand Membou, Missouri
With tight end arguably the top need on the Jets’ roster, Tyler Warren makes sense here. But investing premium resources at a position that has plagued this franchise for a long time is not a bad idea. Olu Fashanu and Membou as bookend tackles? Justin Fields wouldn’t hate that.
Walt Cherepinsky, WalterFootball
DT Mason Graham, Michigan
The Jets have been woeful against the run for far too long. They need a better player to start next to Quinnen Williams to replace John Franklin-Myers, who was sorely missed last year.
Mason Graham is a relentless player with a non-stop motor.
*** OTHER 2025 NFL DRAFT POSSIBILITIES: ***
1. Armand Membou, OT – This seems like Membou’s floor. The Jets have a huge hole at right tackle.
2. Tyler Warren, TE – It’s odd for the Jets to draft Warren at No. 7 when they passed on Brock Bowers at No. 13 last year, but this is a new regime.
OT Armand Membou, Missouri
Membou draws polarizing reports from scouts, but I see a ton of potential upside here, and in a class that doesn’t have any grand slam tackle prospects, I’m going to bet on potential more than floor, especially in the top 10.
RB Ashton Jeanty, Boise State
With Justin Fields under center, it would be wise for the Jets to bulk up the ground game. Breece Hall has been OK, but pairing him with a future star in Jeanty would give new offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand the kind of two-headed monster in the backfield that the assistant coach worked with in Detroit. A potent rushing attack is something that ultimately would fuel Fields’ growth as a quarterback.
Luke Easterling, Athlon Sports
OT Armand Membou, Missouri
Justin Fields should have a solid offensive line in New York this season, but the Jets still need a long-term solution at right tackle. Membou’s film, experience and technique were already worthy of top-10 consideration, but his stellar workout at the NFL Scouting Combine was the cherry on top that makes this a home-run pick.
TE Tyler Warren, Penn State
The top two offensive tackles are gone, so the Jets draft a premium tight end who can block and catch passes. The Jets saw what Brock Bowers was able to do in Vegas last season and hope Warren can be that productive with Justin Fields.
