Jeanie Buss, Rob Pelinka are in Europe to support Luka Doncic for EuroBasket 2025

On Thursday, the Slovenian national team will officially begin group play in EuroBasket 2025 with a game against Poland. It will give NBA fans a chance to see Luka Doncic play after he got into much better shape earlier this summer.

After being chubby and out of shape for a while, he got committed to a strength and conditioning program, as well as a stringent diet. As a result, he reportedly lost about 30 pounds since last summer, and he now looks very fit with well-defined muscles.

Lakers governor Jeanie Buss and general manager Rob Pelinka are in Poland to show support for Doncic as he and his teammates prepare for Thursday’s contest.

There will be a few other prominent NBA stars taking part in EuroBasket 2025, including Nikola Jokić, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Alperen Sengun and Lauri Markkanen. Poland doesn’t have any current or former NBA players on its roster, however, so one would expect Slovenia to defeat it on Thursday.

This tournament could serve as a nice runway for Doncic as training camp for the 2025-26 NBA season slowly approaches. A number of NBA insiders feel he has a good chance of winning his first league MVP award this coming season.
